Kallper’s Peronas

Kallper’s Peronas

Cody Kallper’s life revolves around a search for unified identity, day in day out he pledges himself to aesthetics and occupations regardless of his skills and abilities (or lack thereof). His approach to life is represented by a misguided confidence towards his ventures into unique lifestyles, maintaining a ‘how hard can it be?’ ideology towards all facets of his pursuits, and when discovering how hard it can actually be, he begins to adopt his own humorous ideas to how this particular role should operate, such as founding his own martial arts form to practice and teach, or developing his own genres of music and film.
His thirst for belonging and identity is also underlined by a veiled insecurity, as he feels without a cliched identity to apply onto himself he feels directionless and vapid, although ironically, his lack of long standing success in his pursuits enriches his character beyond the limits that his fabricated personas would even allow.

To match the theme of the project, I intended to utilize my artistic works to express as much of my creative intentions as I could possibly concentrate into my works. Using a character I often use to represent said creative intentions, I want to show the stylistic concepts that embody my spirit through my works, and display the kinds of messages and stories I wish to put out to the world.
My general design philosophy stems from the concept that ignorance is not only entertaining, but a perfect vessel for growth and storytelling from a perspective of relatability, as by accepting our flaws and acknowledging room for discovery and learning we can expand our world view. I do this through a veil of ironic attachment, through which viewers can find themselves relating to the ideas and characters on both a base level of intimacy with our instincts and natural inclinations, and a higher level of self, and societal awareness. All through the lens of what can be viewed at surface level as cartoonish, innocent hijinks.
